Elko, NV (February 25, 2022) – A passenger was injured in an ATV accident that happened on an unidentified two-track road in Elko on Wednesday afternoon, February 23.

According to officials, the accident happened at 3:13 p.m. just west of town. A rider was on their ATV in the area when they suddenly lost control due to reasons that are not yet known. The ATV crashed and rolled, which may have caused the passenger to become ejected. The accident led to extensive damages to the small vehicle.

Paramedics, fire crews, and numerous other responders were immediately dispatched to the scene to help those in need. The passenger in the ATV was seriously injured as a result of the collision. The unidentified victim was flown to a local hospital by medical helicopter for treatment, though their current condition is not yet known. The driver of the ATV had minor injuries and was treated at the scene.

The roadway was blocked in the area for an extended period of time as police worked to clear the scene.

No further details have been released but the investigation remains ongoing. Police will update as more information becomes available.
