Gardnerville, NV (November 18, 2021) – On Tuesday afternoon, November 16, one person was killed in a fatal crash in Gardnerville.
According to Douglas County officials, the accident happened at the intersection of Tillman Lane and Patricia Drive. A deputy was allegedly driving in the area when a speeding vehicle approached the deputy, almost striking their cruiser in the rear. Police immediately recognized the driver as a man wanted in Oregon for assaulting a police officer. The officer attempted to stop the driver streets over, which is when the vehicle slammed into several other vehicles.
The driver then turned at the intersection of Tillman and Patricia. The vehicle struck a second vehicle at the intersection, causing the suspect’s vehicle to roll over several times. A passenger inside the vehicle was ejected onto the roadway.
Paramedics, fire crews, and numerous other responders were called to the scene to help those in need. The passenger inside the vehicle, who has not yet been formally identified, was pronounced dead at the scene due to traumatic injuries. The driver was hospitalized due to their injuries.
The roadway was blocked in the area of the intersection for an extended period of time.
No further details have been released. The investigation into the circumstances of the collision continues.
