Reno, NV (February 4, 2022) – One person was killed in a fatal pedestrian crash that took place at an intersection in Reno.
According to Reno Police, the accident happened around 9:23 p.m. at the intersection of Kietzke Lane and Gentry Way. A male pedestrian in his 50s was crossing the street at the intersection when he was suddenly struck by a driver that was headed south. While the driver stopped to check on the pedestrian, another vehicle struck the pedestrian. The second driver momentarily stopped but then fled the scene.
Paramedics and numerous other responders were dispatched to the scene to help those in need. The pedestrian was rushed to the hospital with severe injuries. He was tragically pronounced dead while there.
Kietzke Lane was completely shut down in the area for several hours as police worked to clear the scene. Police have been searching for the second driver, who was in a light-colored SUV that may have been a Toyota.
No further details have been released. The investigation into the circumstances of the accident continues.
