Reno, NV (August 9, 2022) – On Tuesday morning, August 9, a man was killed in a fatal pedestrian accident that took place in Reno.

According to Reno Police, the accident happened before 5 a.m. in the northbound lanes of I-580 around the area of 2ndStreet. Police confirmed that a pedestrian was walking in the area when he was struck by a passenger vehicle that was traveling in the area. The driver of the vehicle allegedly remained at the scene after the accident.

Several emergency responders, including paramedics and fire crews, were called to the scene to help those in need. Paramedics attempted to save the life of the adult male pedestrian but they were unable to do so. He was tragically pronounced dead at the scene due to traumatic injuries.

The roadway was blocked in the area of I-580 and Galletti Way for some time. Police had the road reopened around 5 a.m.

No further details have been released but the investigation into the accident continues.
