Reno, NV (January 4, 2022) – On Saturday evening, January 1, a woman was killed in a fatal pedestrian accident on a roadway in Reno.

Reno Police confirmed that the collision happened at 1750 East 4th Street around 6:30 p.m. A female pedestrian was walking in the area when she started to cross the street near the area of the Highway 40 Motel. She was in the westbound lane of traffic when she was suddenly struck by a passenger vehicle. The vehicle was identified as a white SUV that fled the scene after the collision.

The woman was helped by numerous responders that were called to the scene, including paramedics and fire crews. Due to the severity of her injuries, she was pronounced dead at the scene.

The area was blocked for an extended period of time as police worked to clear the scene. Police did not say if the driver involved in the accident was caught.

No further details have been released but the investigation continues.
