Sparks, NV (May 31, 2022) – On Friday night, May 27, a motorcycle accident involving a drunk driver took place at a Sparks intersection.
According to the Sparks Police Department, the accident happened around 11 p.m. at the intersection of Pyramid Way and Holman Way. A motorcyclist was traveling in the area when they started to drive through the intersection. A driver inside a passenger vehicle failed to yield the right-of-way at the intersection, striking the motorcyclist. The driver of the passenger vehicle then fled the scene without stopping.
Several responders, including Sparks paramedics and fire crews, were dispatched to the scene to help those in need. The injured motorcyclist, who has not yet been identified, was rushed to a local hospital for treatment of critical injuries.
A witness was able to receive the license plate number of the driver who fled the scene. Police found the driver, identified as 32-year-old Michael O’Farrell. He has since been arrested on charges of driving under the influence, causing substantial bodily harm in an accident, leaving the scene of a crash, and failing to yield the right-of-way.
The investigation into the circumstances of the collision continues.
We offer our thoughts to the motorcyclist who was injured in this accident. We hope that they will receive a full recovery.
