Sparks, NV (August 24, 2022) – Two people were injured in a serious head-on collision that took place at an intersection in Sparks on Sunday afternoon, August 21.

According to Nevada State Police, the accident happened around 12:20 p.m. at the intersection of Nichols Boulevard and McCarran Boulevard. Two vehicles were traveling in the area and attempting to enter the intersection but one of the vehicles did not stop at a red light. This caused the two vehicles to collide with each other, causing extensive damage.

Several responders, including paramedics and fire crews, were dispatched to the scene to help those in need. Both of the involved drivers, who have not yet been identified, received injuries in the accident. The injured parties were taken to local hospitals but are expected to be okay.

The roadway was blocked in the area of the intersection for an extended period of time. Police worked to clear the scene as quickly as possible.

No further details have been released at this time. Police continue their investigation into the circumstances of the collision.
