Wells, NV (September 12, 2022) – Around 6:15 a.m. on the morning of Monday, September 12, a hit-and-run pedestrian accident took place on a highway in Wells.

According to Nevada Highway Patrol officials, the accident happened in the westbound lanes of I-80 in Elko County near mile marker 354. Police confirmed that a pedestrian was walking alongside the road or possibly crossing the street when they were struck by a passenger vehicle due to unknown reasons. The driver did not remain at the scene of the accident.

Paramedics, fire crews, and several other responders were immediately dispatched to the scene to help those in need. The pedestrian, who has not yet been formally identified, was rushed to a local hospital for treatment of injuries. Their current condition is not yet known.

The roadway was blocked in all westbound lanes of traffic for a period of time. Police worked to clear the scene as quickly as possible.

The investigation into the circumstances of the collision continues at this time.
