Yerington, NV (September 8, 2021) – Around 4:30 a.m. on the morning of Wednesday, September 8, a pregnant woman was killed in a fatal crash in Yerington.
According to Nevada Highway Patrol officials, the accident happened on NV-827 around the area of the Lyon County Mile Marker 1. Two vehicles were traveling in the area when they collided with each other due to reasons that are not yet known. The vehicles involved in the accident sustained severe damage as a result.
Paramedics, fire crews, and numerous other responders were called to the scene to help those in need. The unidentified pregnant woman, who was eight months pregnant at the time, was pronounced dead at the scene. Her baby also did not survive. A second person involved in the accident was taken to the hospital by medical helicopter for treatment of serious injuries.
The roadway was blocked in the area for an extended period of time as police cleared the scene.
No further details have been released. The investigation into the circumstances of the accident continues.
