Reno, NV (June 30, 2021) – On Tuesday night, June 29, a fatal pedestrian accident occurred on a highway in Reno.
According to the Reno Police Department, the accident happened in the westbound lanes of I-80 around the area of Virginia Street. Police confirmed that a pedestrian was walking in the area when they were suddenly struck by a vehicle. Two other vehicles did not see the pedestrian and hit them as well.
Paramedics, fire crews, and numerous other local responders were immediately called to the scene. The pedestrian, who has not yet been identified, was pronounced dead at the scene due to traumatic injuries.
The driver of the passenger vehicle that struck the pedestrian remained at the scene. They were not impaired at the time and did not receive injuries in the accident.
Due to the severity of the accident, the westbound lanes of traffic were blocked in the area for some time.
The investigation into the circumstances of the accident continues.
