Reno, NV (November 2, 2022) – Two people sustained injuries as a result of a tractor-trailer accident that took place on a highway in Reno on Wednesday morning, November 2.
According to Nevada Highway Patrol officials, the accident happened before 7 a.m. in the eastbound lanes of I-80 around the area of Gold Ranch. Police confirmed that several vehicles were involved in a chain-reaction crash. The vehicles were identified as six semi-trucks and one passenger vehicle. The involved vehicles were badly damaged in the accident, with several being towed from the scene.
Paramedics, fire crews, and several other responders were called to the scene. Truckee Meadows Fire and Rescue confirmed that a total of two people sustained injuries in the accident. They were treated and expected to be okay.
The roadway was blocked in the area but was reopened around 7:30 a.m. Police have since said that they believe weather was a major factor in the accident.
The investigation into the circumstances of the collision continues. Police will update with more information as it is available.
