Sparks, NV (May 20, 2021) – At 12:30 a.m. on Wednesday morning, May 19, a man was killed in a fatal pedestrian accident in Sparks.

According to the Nevada Highway Patrol, the accident happened in the eastbound lanes of I-80 around the area of Sparks Boulevard. According to authorities, a pedestrian was walking to a pickup truck that ran out of gas when he was struck by a vehicle. A total of three passenger vehicles became involved in the crash.

Paramedics and numerous other responders were dispatched to the scene. The pedestrian, identified as 67-year-old John Mouchou, was pronounced dead at the scene due to his injuries.

One other person involved in the collision was injured and taken to Renown Regional Medical Center for treatment of their injuries.

The roadway was blocked in the area for an extended period of time.

No further details have been released but the investigation continues.
