Carson City, NV (June 7, 2022) – Around 1:15 p.m. on Tuesday afternoon, June 7, a pedestrian accident took place on US-395 around the area of Topsy Lane.
According to local officials, a driver was traveling in the area when they suddenly swerved out of the way to avoid striking a vehicle. Their vehicle then slammed into an NDOT truck that was parked alongside the road. At the time, the workers were conducting a road survey for a resurfacing project in the area. The vehicle was parked in a safe space alongside the road.
Paramedics, fire crews, and several other responders were called to the scene to help those in need. The two workers who were outside the struck NDOT vehicle were seriously injured in the crash. They were rushed to Renown Regional Medical Center by ambulance. One worker was inside the vehicle and was not hurt.
The roadway was blocked in the area of the accident for an extended period of time. Police quickly worked to clear the scene.
No further details have been released but Nevada Highway Patrol officials continue their investigation.
Our thoughts go out to the pedestrians injured in this accident with hopes of a full recovery.
Pedestrian Accidents in Nevada
Pedestrian accidents do not happen as commonly as other accidents in the state of Nevada. However, when they do occur, they tend to lead to some of the most extensive harm. In 2021 alone, it was reported that approximately 85 pedestrians were killed and many others were injured in serious accidents. Pedestrians are at a particularly high risk of sustaining injuries in an accident. This is due to the fact that pedestrians have no protection from harm in the event of an accident.
