Fallon, NV (September 28, 2020) – Around noon on Friday, September 25, a fatal pedestrian accident took place in Fallon.
According to the Nevada Highway Patrol, the accident occurred on Rice Road around the area of Carson River Road. A teal GMC was headed westbound in the area when, for reasons that are not currently known, the vehicle veered into the other lane of traffic and onto the shoulder where the driver struck the child.
The child, who was identified as a student at the Churchill County Middle School, was pronounced dead at the scene of the accident. The student was waiting for a school bus at the time of the crash.
The driver, whose name has not yet been released, remained at the scene of the accident to cooperate with the police.
The roadway was closed in the area of the intersection for an extended period of time.
No further details have been released but the investigation into the circumstances of the accident continues.
