Fallon, NV (November 22, 2022) – On Monday evening, November 21, a pedestrian was killed in a fatal accident that took place on a major roadway in Fallon.
According to Nevada State Patrol officials, the accident happened in the evening hours before 9 p.m. Police confirmed that a pedestrian was walking across the westbound lanes of US-50 when they were suddenly struck by a passenger vehicle that was traveling on the highway. It is believed that the driver of the vehicle pulled over and remained at the scene.
Paramedics, fire crews, and several other local responders were immediately called to the scene to help those in need. The pedestrian, who has not yet been formally identified, was tragically pronounced dead at the scene due to traumatic injuries. Nobody else was hurt in the crash.
Westbound lanes of traffic were blocked temporarily until the scene was fully cleared. This led to delays and police urged those traveling through to avoid the area for some time.
No further details have been released but the investigation into the accident continues.
Our deepest condolences go out to the family and friends of the victim who lost their life in this accident.
Pedestrian Accidents in Nevada
Pedestrians are some of the most at-risk parties on our roads in Nevada. This is due to the fact that pedestrians have no protection from harm in an accident, especially when large vehicles are involved. Though only handfuls of pedestrians lose their lives in Nevada accidents each year, many are injured. The truth is, almost all of these accidents can be prevented but drivers are not always looking for pedestrians on our roads. In 2018, it was reported that 79 pedestrians were killed in accidents throughout Nevada.
