Reno, NV (March 7, 2022) – Two people were injured in a rollover accident at a Reno intersection on Sunday morning, March 6.
According to Reno Police, the accident happened around 6 a.m. at the intersection of 2nd Street and South Wells Avenue. Police confirmed that a Toyota Tundra was traveling in the wrong direction on a one-way street. It failed to yield the-right-of-way as it approached the intersection, causing it to strike a Toyota passenger vehicle. The passenger vehicle immediately rolled over onto its side. The pickup truck struck a fire hydrant in the area, causing the intersection to flood with water and mud.
Several responders, including local fire crews and paramedics, were called to the scene to help those in need. The two occupants inside the passenger vehicle, who have not yet been identified, were rushed to a local hospital with life-threatening injuries. Their current conditions are not known at this time.
Police confirmed that the adult female driver of the pickup truck was arrested at the scene for her role in the accident. Her charges include DUI causing serious injuries, as well as reckless driving.
The roadway was blocked at the intersection for some time following the accident.
No further details have been released but the investigation continues.
Our thoughts are with the injured victims and their families in hopes of a full recovery.
